BASF Ultrafuse PPSU Filament

High-end polymer - excellently suited for demanding and resilient functional components

Ultrafuse PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) is a high-performance thermoplastic developed from BASF's advanced Ultrason materials. The Ultrason resins are amorphous thermoplastics made from polyethersulfone (PESU), polysulfone (PSU) and polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and ensure very high thermal resistance.

Highlights:

  • High temperature resistance (approx. 220°C)
  • Extremely resilient
  • Very good chemical resistance

With its wide range of material performance benefits, Ultrafuse PPSU can be used successfully in applications where other plastics such as polyamide, polycarbonate, polyoxymethylene and polyalkylene terephthalates cannot meet the performance requirements. With its inherent flame retardant properties, it is a particularly suitable material for the aerospace industry.

Advantages of BASF Ultrafuse PPSU Filament

  • Inherently flame retardant
  • Creep resistance at high temperatures
  • Short-term temperature resistance up to 220 °C
  • Resistant to hot water and coolant
  • Resistant to continuous use temperatures up to 180 °C
  • Oil resistant, even at temperatures up to 170 °C
  • High dimensional stability
  • Fuel and fluorine resistant

Applications for BASF Ultrafuse PPSU Filament

Since the material requires a high-temperature printer, BASF Ultrafuse PPSU is mainly used in industry. PPSU is suitable for the production of fittings, pipes, and also brackets and devices. The plastic can be used for a wide range of technical applications that require chemical resistance and water resistance combined with temperature resistance and impact strength.

Note: This 3D printing filament is a high temperature material. A corresponding printer with heatable installation space and above-average print nozzle temperature and print bed temperature is required for processing, such as from Intamsys or Minifactory. PPSU and PEI 9085 from the German chemical company BASF can each be used as a support material for one another.
