Kimya PLA-HI (Polylactide, from the English word "polylactic acid") is a 3D printing filament that is a modified PLA. Due to special additives during production, the material has four times the impact strength compared to standard PLA. The filament is a lightweight and durable thermoplastic that is a high-quality alternative to other plastics traditionally used in 3D printing (standard PLA or also ABS). Kimya PLA-HI combines the easy processing of PLA with the mechanical properties of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer).
PLA-HI is more impact resistant than ABS without making the printing process more difficult. Targeted formulation modifications also give the plastic a tensile modulus and elongation percentage comparable to ABS. Furthermore, the filament spools of this material consist of 100% used ink cartridges. The printing material itself is made from natural materials such as corn starch or cane sugar.
The high-impact PLA is ideal for the production of functional prototypes or spare parts , for model making, architectural models and most everyday use cases. Because the material is easy to print, it is very popular for many common prints.
