Kimya PEKK Carbon Filament
Improved printability compared to ordinary PEEK or PEI, with very high load-bearing capacity.
Ideal as a replacement for metallic applications
The PEKK material from the French manufacturer Kimya is one of the strongest and most resilient plastics on the entire market. The material available here is additionally reinforced with carbon fibers, which creates even greater rigidity and strength. PEKK (polyether ketone ketone) is a high-performance polymer that is one of the most sophisticated materials in current research.
Highlights:
- Flame retardant (UL94 V0)
- Good chemical resistance
- Heat resistant up to 260°C
Kimya PEKK Carbon is generally used by the automotive and aerospace industries because it can often produce components with metallic properties that are significantly lighter or easier to manufacture. However, the many advantages in terms of technical properties are only possible because PEKK is processed at high temperatures. A standard desktop 3D printer cannot process this material. The material requires a print nozzle temperature of 380°C, a print bed temperature of 150°C and a closed and heated build chamber of 80°C.
Properties of Kimya PEKK Carbon Filament
Polyether ketone ketone (PEKK) offers various advantageous properties. For example, the material is heat-resistant up to 260°C and is also flame-retardant certified according to UL94 V0. For this reason, the material is often used to produce air ducts in trains, airplanes or cars, for example. In addition to the high mechanical properties of the printing material, it also offers a very attractive surface quality, as is common with carbon fiber reinforced filaments.
Chemical resistance of Kimya PEKK Carbon Filament
Kimya PEKK Carbon has an extremely high chemical resistance. Materials that do not attack PEKK or have little to no absorption include acids, alcohols, alkyds, ketones, bases, esters, ethers, halogens and hydrocarbons. Nitric acid, sulphuric acid and methylene chloride are not recommended.
